copied from www.1966batmobile.comMattel to produce '66 Batmobile? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone, I've been reading this forum for years, but I've just now registered so I can share this news. I just got an email from 1stopdiecast that reports that Mattel now has the license to produce models of this Batmobile. Here's the part of the email that deals with it: "The big rumor from M is that they have the license to produce the original Batmobile from the TV series! I don't have to tell you how big this car will be. Of course we will have it! I will update you as more info becomes available. ( I hope they don't send a sniper team to get me now that I told you this top secret info)." This is fantastic news. Hot Wheels can do a wonderful job with this car in all scales: 1:64, 1:24, 1:18. I've got my fingers crossed that we'll hear something from them soon

Personally I wouldnt hold yer breath Pete-boy!, These rumours along with the TV series on DVD rumours reach new ears & eyes everyday and get recycled from time to time. If & when it happens, the info will be widely introduced by the masses and not through a "secret" from some dork on a message board. Think about that. Will

That same thing has popped up on the DCD Boards apprently but i've seen no confirmation from the actual parties involved yet. I know for a fact Mattel has some big plans coming to reality in Hot Wheels regarding Batman very soon but as yet i don't have full details on what they are. I'll let you all know when i know.

Oh, how I'd love for this to be true... Unfortunately even when the manufacturers say they've got it locked down, it can all go south; what company was it that was going to produce a large scale model, even sent out ads and then had to switch to the comic version due to licensing snags? It wasn't Franklin Mint, but someone like them... Oh, well...

ya Pete, I'm sure it will happen one day for sure, its really a question of time, both for the 66 Car and the dvd of the show. I just really hope the dvd is released while Adam is still with us. It would be my wish to have him enjoy the huge success & impact which would follow its release.
Roy! the mint company your thinking of is Danburry mint. I had 3 reserved for almost 2 years and when they finally informed me that they were ready I was shocked and dissapointed that they went with the cartoon version. It was nothing more then a glorified & over priced PL Batmobile.

All I know is, if it is real, and they indeed come out, I really just want a 1/18 scale one. To go with my 89 and the BB one. A 1/43 scale would be nice to go with the Corgi collection though. IF....

(courtesy of Tim) Okay I've got to say - joking notwithstanding, this photo made me actually stop rolling my eyes for a second to email a few of my contacts. I'll let you know what I learn about this. Hey if I'm wrong - I'm wrong. It's been known. -S
