Hi, everyone. I am working on my latest project now, 12 inch Michael Keaton Batman89 with Removable rubber cowl, 2 interchangeable heads and also 89batarang. The rubber cowl and head sculpt were completed and moulded, working on the next head mould and batarang sculpt. The body armours are also casted in stretchable rubber. I had always wanted to make this version and I finally have the time to make it real! Hope everyone will like it too!!! I will post completed pics at 'Show & Tell' section later. ;D Regards, Jon

These are some more pics of the project WIP. I had already moulded and casted the master head and then shave off all hair and ears then moulded and casted the bald keaton head so as to fit into the cowl. The reason why I make 2 heads is because to maintain the cowl in correct scale and also to retain the 2 black eye rings when wearing the mask and without them when removed the cowl. The pics are taken in a hurry therefore the quality is not so good, I will retake better pics when all are completed. Btw, thanks to Willy and Figuremaster Les compliments. I hope the the completed figure will not let any of u down. ;D Best Regards, Jon

Looks awesome, CH. You've nailed the Keaton likeness, a difficult thing to do in any scale.
What material are you using for the flexible parts? Latex?

Hey, outback. Thanks for the comments and 'YES'! The body armour are made of high quality latex whereby after cured it will become elastic rubber with good rubber feel.

Thanks for the reply, CH. They really do look great.
I've been using latex for cowls on 3 3/4" figures for years. However, I've had problems with them degrading over time (small tears mostly, but some just seem to dry out and crumble). I presume that's a function of the quality of my latex.
Do you coat fabric with latex for capes, much as they did on the actual movie costumes?

Hi, outback. I have not try the combination of fabric with latex yet. I will try it out and feedback to u later. Yes! The latex quality will degrades if it's kept too long. Especially when it became thick and creamy. I did encountered area whereby it will not be fully cured or many tiny cracking lines. My experience is dun do casting at night, during rainny day or in an air-conditioned room. The surrounding weather or temperature can cause improper chemical reaction of the catylst in the latex or resin. Leave the latex in a good room temperature environment for a proper natural cure. I hope all these can help u in your future casting. ;D

Thanks for the tips, Jon. I'll try 'em out on my next project.
By the way, any updates on this project? I'd love to see some photos of the completed piece.

Yep. Missed it clean. Very good job, Jon.
I presume you sculpted the patterns for the latex pieces yourself, instead of copying them from a vinyl figure or something. Excellent work, all the way around.
