To get away from my usual style and themes, I have gotten into an area I have loved for years now, VIKINGS! Here is my batch in progress, the second guy from the left is about done, The rest all are either untouched purchased guys with some altered or traded gear, or just not gotten to yet. The really close one...a SEVERELY reworked Dragon Olaf Viking figure...gave me lots of parts...I added the rest... By the way, I normally don't use real fur on anything, but a buddy gave me a bag of rabbit furs years ago, and I recently found them, and thought, well...these are Vikings. If I am gonna use them at all, ever, it will be a bit here. My Beowulf figure (from the 2004 Icelandic film Beowulf & Grendel with Gerard Butler as Beowulf - great movie!) Closer shot of the almost finished one... Hope to have these and a nice Viking ship model done in the next couple of weeks. These have been great for my right brain. No character matches except for Beowulf. Hope you enjoy them so far.

This is clearly not the place to post Vikings!

LOL. I was thinking the same thing Les! Hey - no kidding they look amazing. I think we were all just blown away to see so many at once out of the blue. I love some of the fabric and mail textures. And the muted color pallette. Can't get behind the fur use as you know, but hey to each his own. I'm not into vikings or military stuff at all but I'll share with you what they made me think of. The super realistic look of the figure poses, fabrics and dirty, distressed colors immediately made me want to see you use this type of stuff for a Watchmen set of figures in 12" scale. Beautiful work as always, sorry for the low ebb interest levels.

Thanks Scot. I appreciate that all a lot. And I know, the fur thing. I really almost didn't post them, and they aren't all done yet as is....I guess just the nearly done one would have been a better thing so far. But, that one guy is closest to finished and the rest are almost out of box, maybe somewhat dirtied and altered around gear, standard toys. Only those first two on the left warrant any real mention yet with the paints and all. But again, thanks for the mention of colors. Watchmen. Hmmm...interesting. I love the comic, and am quite familiar with the characters, but hadn't thought of the colors and grime factor regarding them. Interesting ideas. I know a Rorshach is a possible one for me. Night Owl and Comedian are maybes. But muted and dirty....food for thought. Anyway, thanks and again, I very much appreciate your candor here. Always value your take on my works, even in progress.

Hot DAMN, Les, those are great looking figures!! Love the idea of Viking figures, and you've done a fine job showing us what they should look like (are you listening Ignite?) The tattoo work on the almost done figure looks way too cool, and like Scot, seeing all that crunchy weathering work makes me want to apply it to a comic type figure. Hhhmmmm.... you know I've got a Mr. Freeze in the works..... GREAT work, bro!

Les, I apologies for the late response, I have briefly looked at these pics a few days ago but just hadn't had time to properly respond due to lack of computer time. Anyway! with the mention of Vikings and coming from you! I was expecting "DIRT!" and as usual you did not disappoint. I like how the fingernails look dirty & grimy as if he has been working & living off the land. Personally speaking as a fan of gore, I would love to see some blood stains on the weapons and splats on the clothes but hey! Before or after battle, they are looking awesome! The Tattoo works alone deserve a mention, not only is the detailing ultra fine, there is a convincing bluish hue which is reminiscent of actual faded tattooing expected to appear on an area which receives constant sunlight and weather. I think the use of the fur is OK as long as you didn't go out and hunt for it personally. It does look amazing! and since you had it, there is no harm in using it for this project. Looking forward to more pics as this line-up progresses. K love Will

;D Thanks guys! I want to do some more of the tattoo stuff on one or two others, and get to them and get them done soon! Got so much on my plate workwise, that these will trickle I am afraid. But, they keep me clear headed after repaints and other stuff. So many ALIENS heads and other stuff that will get old soon if I can't get away from it all. ;D
Anyway, these fellas are a personal love thing. As for minor battle gore, not sure yet, might sneak some old dried blood in there somewhere. Haven't ruled it out.
