Well, it's been a while since I've worked on this project so my son and I thought we'd get back into it. And so i thought I'd share a few shots.
I've been saving and creating parts for this project for years, literally. This past year, Roman gave the project a big boost by creating a ton of TV batcave parts for me.
The project is a consistent 1:25 scale batcave that incorporates many aspects of the 1966 TV cave set along with my interpretation of the many classic comic book features that have appeared over the years. This are intended to be featured in a fan film once we get more sections completed. 1:25 is my favorite scale for presentation so we are adhering to that scale pretty rigidly. Some of the challenges that remain daunting are creating correctly scaled TV batcopter and batcycle. But that's later.
Now we are setting about crafting the cave itself. The plan is a three-tiered diorama. More on the other tiers later. First off - we are planning out the lower cave floor, the one that contains the most 1966 TV features.
First up is a shot showing the display case we are using for the diorama. I used to have collectibles in here but they are all boxed up for sale right now. Borrowing a lot of tips from model railroad videos that my son watches, the first ground tier will be built on top of a slab of pink foam insulation board.
First up we are cutting the foam board to fit insid the bottom of the case.
Notching the corners so we can pull the floor back out and plot the layout of parts.
For fun, we put out some of the parts to see how the placement was fitting.
In the back are a few of the classic batcave trophies. I went through 4 dinosaurs before deciding on this one. LOL
You can see the wonderful computers and gadgets that Roman built here. They are not in their final placement, we are still moving stuff around.
