Hey fellas. I wrestled with the idea of posting this after Les' stunning paint jobs on Andy's Sideshow figures. I really feel Les does some of the best stuff I have ever seen and feel kinda dumb attempting to follow in his footsteps with another Heston. Anyhow I wanted to let Andy see what I have done for him this time in the same kinda area. The head is a stunning Russ sculpt of Charlton Heston from the first 'POTA' movie and is a real killer job for sure. The costume ain't much I know but it is kinda how he looked in the movie and what Andy and I felt Mego would have done had they got the licence to do a figure of the legendary actor instead of issuing a generic astronaut as they did. (This figure will compliment( I hope!) the existing 'APES' Mego line that Andy has an incredible collection of by the way.) I have a little more work to do on the lips and 'dot' the eyes but it is pretty much done so I felt I could share it with you guys. The figure will have ragged 'trunks' and a collar and stuff too so won't look just like a 'bum' or something as he does now. Thanks for looking.

Mart, you are the Man!!!! I owe you big time pal. Pizza Hut is on me! He looks even better than I could have wished for. That sculpt by Russ in dead-on...I love it. I will proudly display "Taylor" with my POTA Mego collection, somebody has to kiss Zira, and it ain't gonna be me......
You're off to a good start with the outfit too. I also love the outdoor pics. I will be making my own Damn Dirty Human frock for Taylor too. I'll share some pics when he is complete.
I can't stop looking at this little guy. You've really got the hair and beard colors down, the darker shades in the beard are a real stand out thing to me. He may frighten Zira with his life-likeness( If that's even a word?) You gotta share more pics as you finish him up. I can't wait to see him when his lips are done.

Outstanding job! Your work has such a great clean professional look. The hair in particular is so well executed and subtle. Your paints have such rich detail while somehow maintaining a level of simplicity that makes them appear to be real "product".

First of all Russ! that's a great looking Tailor head, the facial details are extremely well done. Marty's head paint jobs are all top notch stuff and this talor is no exception. Great skin tones & hair details. you did an awesome job thus far of brining this guy to life.
Congrats Apeaholic, this will be a killer addition to your ape line, hopr to see pics of him with Zira.

Will, I'll certainly share pics of Mart's cool paint up at another date, but this one is all Mart's. He has done a beautiful job on his own figure here and was kind enough to do one for me as well. I think I've accidentally hijacked Mart's thread a bit in my excitement at seeing the pics.
Mart has quite a nice collection of Mego Apes himself. Hopefully we'll get to see a few pics of some action scenes involving them and this sweet looking Taylor.

;D That's really cool Mart! You done good!
Really nice figure and a nice overall finish. Cool head. I am amzed by these Russ heads. Haven't had the pleasure of painting any yet, I need to. So many nice ones that I wouldn't know where to begin.
Great Taylor though Martin. I am duly impressed!

Thanks for the kind words and observations fellas. I was specially pleased to get a thumbs up from Les what with him becoming so familiar with Charlton Heston of late. My aim is always only to look like a cool action figure. The realism guys like Les bring to their work is beyond me totally. I just do my best and try to 'stay in the lines' if you know what mean. Russ' work is the basis of most all the stuff I do and he deserves a massive pat on the back for the stuff he puts out for us guys. Les, you really do need to delve into Russ' box of delights. There are some corkers in there for sure. Anyhow thanks for all the support guys. This is my figure by the way. Andy's is just a head at the moment but looks exactly the same. I hope he drops in a few shots when he gets his head back from me in a week or so.

I've had the pleasure of seeing this guy up close & personal. The sculpt is amazin' & Mart's paint job brings old Chuck to life. The eyes ping & shine and yes the shading in the beard though subtle, is one of Mart's trademarks, that of an excellent eye & steady hand. Brilliant!
