Hi gang. I got my new 1/18 Hotwheels Diecast Tumbler Batmobile this week. Mate to my 1989 version one. I haven't got any pics yet but just wanted to review what I could for now. Here goes... One, it's way too clean. Loses something right off. Two, too many gold shiney bits that aren't accurate. Had to repaint... Three, The front window/canopy is supposed to open, but darned if I can open it Four, no side windows. Makes it look incomplete Five, Theres this track inside the car for the window/canopy to slide on when it opens that is visible through the side open windows. Now I know why windows are open, if canopy gets stuck... Six. Had to sand the tires to make them look remotely less shiney and more "real". Seven. Glad this is the only Tumbler I am going to get. No match for my 1989 car. No way. Does look better than the plastic toy bank version. I bet the 1/24 kit looks way better. For what it's worth, I saw the big Walmart remote one yesterday and it is huge. If anyone is after one let me know. End of 1/18 Hotwheels Tumbler review. Pics may follow...

Hey Les,that's the first report i've heard of the Canopy not being able to open. Are you going to generally touch it up and wear it down a bit? I'm keen to get a look at it as i'm still conflicted over whether to get this one or the Model Kit.

I had a tough time opening the canopy. One of the reasons it's so tough is because there's a rubber band holding it shut... on the inside! Because that makes sense... Once I was able to slide the canopy back far enought to cut the rubber band... It still didn't open much. The canopy is in two section. The "top" and the "front." The front should swing down and back as the top slides back, but it doesn't go very far. Certainly not enough to allow access to an in-scale person/figure. Honestly, don't bother. Ain't worth the risk of breaking something. Other than that, I dig this. I guess I'm not as much of a stickler for dirt and wear as good ol' angremien, but I think it looks reasonably good with my other 1:18 pieces. Now I'm looking forward to the Corgi 1:18 '30s Roadster Batmobile! C.

Dirt & wear...hmm...ok. I just wanted it less toylike...but, I'd take that over too shiney I guess. The 89 Hotwheels car looked almost perfect. This one's simply too clean. The real one looked less painted as it looked kind of like a dark graphite finish. I guess Hotwheels spoiled me on that last one. Anyway, I agree Cason, that '30's roadster should be sweet! Followed by a Barris 1/18 Batmobile and I would be in heaven. (And thanks for the tip about the rubber band... )

I think i'll still get the HW and the Kit.I think i'll be more inclined to put the wear and tear on the Kit myself and leave the Tumbler pretty much as it is. And the 1:18 30s Roadster looks fantastic btw,Batlaw[who hasn't been here for a while]got it and showed some piccies,it's sweet!I'll have to hassle him again to get back here.
