"Holy snapping Duck Dung Batman!" That's one Robin should have added to his vocabulary. This was no easy task, in fact it was about a year of off & on monkeying around to get it done, and there was no internet to refere to. I actually had to drive to Buffalo to a car show to take pics of a batmobile which was there, otherwise the only pictures I could find was from a 1966 Popular mechanics article whichh they did on the car. We are so lucky to have the internet at our disposals. Thanks for the comments. Will

Looks good Will! I assume it was 1:16 like the one in the article that Steve did? That's a lot of work, a model that big. -S

Actually Scot I did mine 1:25 scale. The only model of that car at the time was the 1:32 Aurora as I'm sure you are aware. The Polar lights repros were not out either and to find an original Aurora Futura well good luck with that.
I still have the car, i was gonna bring it to get signed by george barris last summer but i was afraid it would get damaged in transport, so i brought a mego and a Corgi for him to sign.

The Polar lights repros were not out either and to find an original Aurora Futura well good luck with that. Will Will - just correcting your history a tad. (Hey look I'm actually being the Models Moderator!) Yes, the only OFFICIAL batmobile model out then was the Aurora. But both the Lunar 1:24 scale (horrible) Batmobile and the first of the 1:25 Batmobile garage kits, the T&T model were available at the time of Steve's article. Granted - if you weren't into garage kits at the time you never would have heard about them... Anyway - nice job on yours regardless of scale. Another interesting note of history: One of the reasons that there weren't many garage kits out of the '66 Batmobile like there are now (I know of at least 6 decent garage kits of it right now) back in 1987 was that Revell had not reissued the original Futura kit yet and as Will pointed out - Forget about finding an original! The original had actually come out in the 50's and was scarce in the 1980's. HOWEVER - modeler Tony Mariano of T&T models actually did what Siderio, Creigh and everyone else does now with their kits - He customized off a Futura base. But he did it ON AN ORIGINAL! Which is why his was so much more accurate than the Lunar car. Which was scratch designed from an original pattern. -s

I actually bought a Luner of ebay back in 2000, what a disapointment, It's still in the box unbuilt, not as good as I thought it looked in the pics.
I then discovered the Japanese Batman model, with the Barris style artwork on the box, but a totally inacurate body style in the box. Sure wish I knew you back then Scot, thou I love having the Jap one displayed for the art, You could have saved me in getting the crummy Lunar.

Yeah you could have gotten a Caped Custom then which is still the best custom body in my book. But - the Lunar was the first one I bought too back in 1987 so I learned that lesson the hard way! I did the same thing with the Imai car! But like you, I love it for it's goofiness and the box art. You know they made 2 sizes of that model, right? -s

I didn't know ther were 2 sizes, I just assumed all the ones I have seen on ebay were the 1/32 scale like mine.
