Well, I'm trying to adapt a rocket-ship model and turn it into the Batjet From Planet X. I am not a model-bulder by any means and this whole area is just out of my league. So I'm turning to some of you model guys for some help.
I need to cut a couple of substantially big oval-shaped holes into the walls of the rounded rocket sides to accomadate the appropriate canopies.
I have no idea how to accomplish this. Anyone know how to cut reasonably good holes out of the rigid plastic?

Draw on what you need to cut, then Exzato-Knife it. Probably the best way. Thats how I cut up certain Mego parts. Thats all I got.

You could also use a tiny drill bit and drill a series of holes all around the oval shape, pop out the center then scrape smooth with an x-acto or sandpaper.

I agree with Will. That's how I'd do it.

Yeah man. Like Will says, drill and make your holes clean and shaped and sand. Draw what they need to be on there in pencil and trim to that line. And get that Dremel tool bro!

Will's nailed it,that's exactly the easiest and most precise way to do it.

Thanks for all of the input guys. Looks like I'm drilling it. At last! A project that requires a tool I actually have!!

I recall I used this technique on a project several years ago. I started work on a Batplane as seen on The New Batman Adventures ("new school" style in Timm-speak). I was using PVC rocket bodies as parts, and drilled a hole then dremeled out what would be the canopy of the thingypit. Sadly, I never finished that project. But the technique works!
