I haven't experimented with Silicon for anything other then molds, But if you allow for a minor shrink factor, Latex might work for you. That's what Sid's jacket is made from and to paint it simply mix some water based paints in with somne latex and then you can either apply with a brush or airbrush.
Latex tends to shink a bit when curing, so make your latex accessories slightly bigger then you want the finished product to be. This is an area where you would have to use Trial & Error.

thanks will. yea i think your right . i had some sucess at mixing the laytex paint right into the laytex its self for colour. i mixed a little with other paints to paint it and that works very nice as well. i thought maybe there was soemthing better out there. i think maybe it is alot of trial an error like ya said . laytex = alot of paitence in the end i guess. thanks will ps. love the front page header looks real cool.

"Smooth On" has many tutorials about casting and or molding using different types of rubber. Plus they are a good resource to buy the materials as well. www.smooth-on.com/default.htm

YEAH! Love that. I just opened up and have started my Superman head mold with Smooth-On Silicone material. It is different than the latex but I bet latex is better for what CapnMego is after. I think Will's application would be perfect. Plus, you could probably control the final look of what you were working on better. Even embed things in it like zippers or metal parts etc.
