Hi All, Here's my first attempt at a head sculpt of Adam West: I've really been motivated and inspired by the work of everyone on this board. Todd

Hey Todd thats looking pretty sweet brother. Is he sculpted completely from scratch or is it a modified existing head?
either way, you have a good likeness there, send it to Les to get the look of life added. ;D

thanks guys! It's sculpted from scratch with sculpey. I've heard from a few people that sculpey's not the best material to work with but it suited me fine for this (for now).

looks great!
I used sculpy for years and it works good... Oh, and a tip I learned from Randy Bowen; use a heat gun to cook it, don’t get too close, just steady heat for a few seconds at a time to harden it, it will keep it from cracking like some Sculpy things do in the oven.

Thanks Steven! And thanks for the tip. I think I will go with the heat gun . . . another thing I've noticed w/ sculpey is that some of the smaller extremety pieces (like ears and noses) can get overcooked and kind of burnt.
Forgot to answer the scale question . . . its a 1/6 scale.

Off to a great start, Nick. (Add another name to my lists of members whose sculpting skills I'm jealous of.)
I don't use Sculpey ofgten, but when I do, I usually boil it. Of course, that's because I work in smaller scales and usually am adding material directly on top of plastic, and plastic and ovens don't go well together. (That's also why I usually use air-drying epoxies, but Sculpey is not a bad choice if it's something you walk away from and come back to days later.)

thanks again guys . . I appreciate the kind words. I also wanted to give credit where credit is due to and say that I created this mostly from studying the work of members of this board.
In this particular case I took a lot from Steven's (retroprops) style. It was Scot's original posting of Steven's Adam sculpt that prompted me to give it a try. I studyied his lines etc. while I was working.
They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery (?) Hope thats true!

I use super sculpy as well. early in life I found a knack for sculpting with plasticene but was always bummed that it could not harden. Ive tried modeling clay but didnt like it. Sculpy has the plasticene qualities with hardening qualities so it's perfect for me. Incidentally, I have been useing a heat gun on my sculpy for a few years now. I find it to be a crucial part of my sculpting. When I get the eyes right I can harden them so they dont get messed up while working on other features. This is also a great way to add teeth to an open mouth sculpt, cure the open mouth then add the teeth or vice versa. Will

Yo Todd, Just curious on a few things regarding this sculpt. Do you have a body type in mind for this head? also will he be as Bruce Wayne or wearing a Bat costume? If you are planning to make copies of the head, you are most welcome to advertise them in the "Traders section" of the boards, i'm certain some members would'nt mind adding this to their collections. Thanks Henry! Will, I actually hadnt really considered what I would be doing with the sculpt. It's made with the intention of fitting onto a Dragon but I dont have clothing for him. I'm currently working on a small project involving the 66 show (i'll have more details on that) and I made this as part of the previz-design phase of that. I had done some sculpting in the past for this sort of thing but on much larger scales that this one. With that I didnt really know how the sculpt was even going to turn out so I wasnt thinking that other people may want a copy I was pretty much making it for myself I guess. If people would like copies I wouldnt have a problem getting it out there . . . just have to work out the logisitcs I guess. Todd
