Hey gang. I know ALL of you guys probably have SOME kind of 66 Batmobile version toy in your multitudinous collections. I have NONE. Nada. Not a version. I did get the newer Corgi comics car so I could have SOMETHING for my 1/43 scale set, but I am clueless as to how to find a nice one for the set that isn't $100 or something so high. I see beat up rusty ones all over, and I am not much of a car finisher upper, so I want a nice one. If anybody has one lying around that is IN THE WAY, or is a blantant EXTRA that they might be willing to part with...a free headpaint or two is for sure in the deal for one, if not more than that. I just want a version that would look nice with my future 12" Batman and Robin display so they have some kind of a ride represented. I don't need a 1/8 and all that... And yes, I am going to get that Polar lights boat and motorcycle set so I have that... So, lemme know if I am just having a pipe dream or not. It may not be as easy as I hope...but in here, there may be someone with an answer to my prayers. Thanks for your time guys.

Do you mean 1:43rd? or 1:24th scale?(larger one like the bigger Corgis out now?)

To be honest with you Troy, any decent smaller scale car would do. I have the Hotwheels 1/18 Keaton Batmobile and that tank thing from the new movie, so a 1/18 one would be skippy! But, that may not be happening, so a smaller one like the smaller 1/43 Corgis is what I was thinking. But, I'd take a decent 1/24. I have an old resin kit that looks like soap, but is maybe nice when built... It's a 1/25 kit made by a Jim Key, who ever that is, but I am admittedly not a great car modeller, so I wanted a nice finished car instead. Of course, I'd throw in this old kit to whoever could trade one just for good measure. Here it is... It does have the matching chrome rims and rubber tires etc., that it needs, you can see one there on the left. I'd build it if I thought I could put a nice clean coat of paint on it, but that always throws me. I get too many mars in it. Give me imperfect figures with varying surfaces over perfection like a car. So... there you are. I remain stymied. Unless you have a nice 1/24th one you'd deal on. I bet it doesn't come cheap though. ;D I do want to be fair to anyone who has a car of course. I also just want that darned car. For once. Finally.

I have that same kit Les and although I've never considered it remnesent of a bar of soap, i can see where yer comming from. I won mine on ebay back around 2000 and was imediately dissapointed when it arrived so on a shelf it went and still remains unbuilt. If I were you I'd look towards Gink. Good luck brother. Will

That is the Lunar Batmobile kit. The first garage Batmobile kit ever put out, and sadly - the worst. It was redone a little bit a short while ago - which may be the one you have there but I'd have to see the canopies first. if they sit ungodly tall on the car - you've got the original. If the whole thing is super solid and heavy, not hollow-cast like a regular car kit you have the original. And yeah, it's made from a brittle, oily smelling, waxy resin.
My advice to you is to sell the kit and get a different one. For one thing - that kit gets a bit of cash in the 'historical' collector's market because of its status as the first one produced. Lunar is the original sci-fi garage kit. I had one of these in a box since 1988 and had built over 12 better versions since but had bever touched it. I built it up last year quickly and put it in a display box and sold it on ebay.
The kit has so many problems I wouldn't know where to start listing them. But you should be able to get about $100 for it on ebay - sold correctly, and then it's only another $25 to get you the best Batmobile model you'd ever need. I'd be glad to help you with this - email me off board.
If you really still want to build it - I'll help you with some better parts but you really don't want to build this kit.
