I have a pal who just got married. Over the last year or so he has gotten to know his in-laws and old family friends of his now wife. A few weeks back they visited a relative who got chatting to my buddy about hobbies and stuff. My pal is into the same stuff as most of us here and the guy suddenly went "I used to work for a toy company back in the 1960s" He then told my pal to wait there for a minute. They old guy went into his shed and a few minutes later came back with a handful of these figures and some Universal Monsters in the same style. He had some samples from back in the day and some molds too but my pal said they were looking pretty shabby. They are around 3.5 Inches tall and clearly have a peg in the foot to go in a little stand like an old 'Swop-It' cowboy figure. I don't remember these as a kid at all. Any of you guys recognise them at all from the US when you were kids? I plan on painting them up for display as they are pretty neat looking figures and quite nicely detailed too.

I've never seen them before but they look cool as can be. Can't wait to see a few shots of them all painted up.

They kind of look like cake decoration figures, my mom made me a batman and Superman cake in the early 70’s. They had rounded or dome type oval bases they clipped into. Maybe...

These were "paintable plasticine" figures made by Combex of the UK in late 60's and into the late 70's as well. They came with small green stands that you could mount or stand the figures on. They were a "you paint it" crafts toy that the kid was supposed to paint with a set of cheap paints and brushes that came with it. They are much bigger and thicker than the ideal figures. They were offered as single figures, Batman and Robin together and all three in a box. They were only sold in the UK. I had a few different boxed sets of these back in the day. I know I still have a photo or 2 around here somewhere of the ones I painted... The Batman was the classic Infantino pose similar to the Chemtoy pre-painted ones we got here. The other 2 were less "on model" posewise. The great thing about the Superman is that when you paint him he has a very non-comics "Kirk Alyn" kind of face potential. Nice set. I'd LOVE to buy these molds no matter how bad shape they were in. I collect toy molds from that era. Cheers. -S UPDATE: Found the photo.
