Always been a big fan of The Spirit and have wanted to do a custom for a while...kudos to Customs Lab for the cool dead-on head sculpt (Thanks Russ)! I wanted to incorporate the classic Eisner splash page look on the box and went with the Fist Fighter format to get it to fit. If I ever come across a spare FF body I might actually transform him since good ol' Denny Colt was always in some knock-down drag out battle with some thugs in Central City.

Beautiful work! That head by Russ is nice and you got all of the details perfect. I absolutely love the box as it is TOTALLY in synch with the Eisner artwork and, pardon the pun, spirit. I love the way you carried on the Sunday Section look at the top of the box too- top marks on this and a karma for you too!

Awesome work here, man.
Gotta love the Spirit...with the exception of some of the, um, dated elements of the comic, it still stands among the best in the medium.
The custom is great...I love the expression on his face, and the packaging is magnificent as always.

Wow,another great victory too rarely seen by our own Anthony.Mate, you have nailed the character admirably, the Head by Russ is indeed great and the Suit is perfect, couldn't ask for a better rendition of the character. The Box just makes the whole thing come together beautifully, the classic era art style with the FF style box was a fantastic idea. Top marks here, you need a Karma for this bad boy!

Love the bit with the tie. Yeah even though he wore a suit...The Spirit wasn't the most "neatly pressed" kind of crimefighter. ;D

Thanks everyone! Something about the box just wasn't doing it for me...after looking at it for awhile I thought it was missing something Eisneresque. Looked through some old Spirit issues and found a title graphic that suited me better. I wanted to make the figure mesh with the background and was thinking that the boxed feel was too constraining for the character...thus my carded solution: I think it works out better. Even though the Fist Fighter format worked somewhat on the front with the larger logo down the side, the box back ended up looking like "filler" to me (including the character bio). The card format ended up simplfying the matter but still incorporating the basic elements I wanted.

I like 'em both Anthony, but I think the card looks more visually striking and dynamic. Hadn't thought of any of that until you said something... Both are great pieces though. ;D

Both look good to me Anthony because the selected artwork is so appropriate and finished projects are so polished.
But I have to say that I like the box a whole lot more than the card. The Spirit is one of the "older" characters you have done and the box seems to match the vintage of the character more- the card seems too modern to me. I also think the stature of the box makes appropriate drama of Eisner's character and reflects his artwork's original impact better.
But that's just me...

Great custom Antony. The box looks great however I am not a fan of this particular box design. It's the same shape as the 12" Mego batm,an box and it seems to waste valuable shelf space (for me anyway) having that void of empty shelf behind the flap.
The card here is more appealing to me, it gives a much better view of the Spirit and also the artwork appears tighter and more visually stunning.
Excellent custom job.

I gotta say that the Card with the Artwork is another fine example of your unique skills.Very nicely done indeed,it sets your figure off admirably.Although i gotta admit something about the Box Design still appeals to me greatly as well. Thanks for the look, hoping to see more of your own work again real soon.
