Ooooooooh boy..... well, I got the Batman and Catwoman figures yesterday and late, late last night I finally got a chance to open 'em up, check 'em out, and photograph 'em. I am VERY, VERY happy with them both!! I'll apologize now for slightly less than perfect quality in the photos due to the late hour, but hot DAMN! I'm in LOVE with this Catwoman figure....
First impressions? EVERYTHING about this figure is very well made. It's like Takara has been paying attention to all the custom work that's been done with their figures and is trying to emulate that in mass production pieces.
Salient points:
1) Her outfit is perfect. And as SKIN-TIGHT as physically possible. As it should be. I'm a little nervous about one or two of the seams, but past experience with Takara tells me they should be fine. The detailing on the ringed zipper pulls is perfect. Belt is great; sits at the right spot on her hips, and has a holder for her whip...
2)The WHIP has a wire running through it so, as you can see in one of the pics, you can pose it in action. Fits snugly and perfectly in the holder on the belt.
3)Boots are awesome; a new design for Takara, with superb detailing.
4)Eye paint ups are VERY well done for a mass produced figure. They did NOT paint in the usual white dot to indicate reflectivity in the eye, but left it as is. The pupil and coloring are not perfect, and I will re-do them, but for people who don't customize, they're really nice.
5) TOTALLY new headsculpt with very unique features, beautifully crafted. It's a face I have fallen in love with, guys; no doubt.
6) ALL new handsculpts.
7)Two part headgear fits snugly and features movable goggles with clear lenses. This was the part that I hadn't like so much from the photos, but as the pleather underpiece is stretchable, you can maneuver it so you get a nice sleek line along the figure's head, and the top piece with the goggles doesn't look all that large on her in person.
Summation: This figure ROCKS!! And now has a permanent spot right next to my monitor.... with the Takara BATMAN sneaking up right behind her.... And I'll get to him in the next post...
