Who amongst us is the biggest Joker fan? Prove yourself here! (careful, a couple of these might be tricky) Who knows, you might get lucky!
1. In the comics, the Joker's real name is?
2. The Joker character was created by whom?
3. The Joker was allegedly based on which actor?
4. In which movie?
5. Based on the novel by whom?
6. The Joker first appeared in what comic and issue?
7. Which actor plays the Joker's voice on the animated show: The Batman?
8. Correctly spell the actor's name who played the Joker on the 1966 TV show.
9. BONUS: Briefly, summarize what you like or don't like about the Joker and state whether you collect Joker "stuff".
10. Now, just say honestly whether you answered all these from memory or went and looked info up. (It won't affect your score)

OK. I'll try your "challenge" to see where it leads me. Not sure what I would "win" or not.
Being a bit of a Joker fan, and being as I do collect some Joker stuff, though not that much, more of a specific figure nature, I will venture a try here Scot.
1. In the comics, the Joker's real name is? Not sure. I actually don't know this one. But in his first appearance, he goes by the alias A. Rekoj. Too silly to be his actual name. Missed that one I guess.
2. The Joker character was created by whom? Bill Finger? I don't think Kane came up with that one, but he influenced him. Best guess.
3. The Joker was allegedly based on which actor? Conrad Veidt
4. In which movie? As Qwynplaine in the 1928 silent film, THE MAN WHO LAUGHS
5. Based on the novel by whom? Victor Hugo, of "Hunchback of Notre Dame" fame.
6. The Joker first appeared in what comic and issue? Detective Comics #45
7. Which actor plays the Joker's voice on the animated show: The Batman? Not Mark Hamill. Ok, I think it's a guy named Kevin Michael Richardson.
8. Correctly spell the actor's name who played the Joker on the 1966 TV show. Cesar Romero
9. BONUS: Briefly, summarize what you like or don't like about the Joker and state whether you collect Joker "stuff".
Being most fascinated in most tales with villains over heroes, as I often find heroes boring beyond reason, (why I like Batman over many others) I like the fact that he is interesting visually, and is not supposedly so much insane as he is hyper-sane. And is just against Batman as a general rule. Just wants to thwart him at every turn. Be his foil. Etc. I think he's too caught up in his image. And again, he simply looks cool. I hate clowns, they look scary not funny to me, so why not.
I collect a few Joker character based figures, five or six maybe, the 1989 movie figures, and some specialized comics (The Laughing Fish and Killing Joke being the two all time best to my mind). Mostly for imagery. He looks cool, has some style and is scariest I guess. Best choice for the first major or top villain for the 1989 movie.

Okay Les is the front runner. I have his score locked in. I'll give this until Sunday night. Les cannot now correct or add on to his score BUT others may be able to come in with some differing opinions. I will say this - Les did not get them all correct. So have at it. Tick tick tick...

1. ? 2. Jerry Robinson 3. Conrad Veidt 4. The Man Who Laughs 5 ? 6.Batman No 1 7? 8. Cesar Romero 9. I guess like much of my appreciation of the whole Batman universe I like The Joker because of the 1966 TV show. As I grew however I enjoyed his appearances in the comic books and stuff interested me too particularly the Adams/ O Neill stuff. The idea of a sinister clown is always an appealingly repellant one too. (If that makes sense!) I collect a few bits but would not say I was specifically a 'collector' of Joker related items although I do own some. 10. This was off the top of my head. No surfing or researching.

1. The Joker's real name has never been given in the comics. In the '89 movie it was Jack Napier.
2. Various accounts disagree as to the true creator of the Joker...Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson all take partial credit for something to do with the character.
3. Conrad Veidt
4. "The Man Who Laughs"- 1928
5. Victor Hugo
6. Batman #1, 1940
7. Kevin Michael Richardson
8. Cesar Romero
9. To quote the Clown Prince of Crime himself: "The Joker must have the Batman! Nay, the Joker deserves the Batman!...[He] is the greatest criminal ever known! Ha Ha Ha Ha! And for anyone else to destroy the Batman would be unworthy of [him]!" * Bonus quiz: name the source of the quote!
Alas I do not collect Joker stuff other than what might already be a part of the Batman things I have.
10. Answered from memory except for the Joker quote....had to look up the exact wording. ;D

1: Ummm...no idea 2: Bill Finger and Bob Kane (credit's been given to both) 3: Conrad Veidt 4: The Man Who Laughs 5: ? 6: ? 7: ? 8: Cesar Romero 9: He's a genuinely scary and fascinating character when handled well. He's also THE arch-nemisis of Batman, is my second-favorite Animated series villain (after Freeze) and has generated some truly great bat-stories. I collect anything Batman, so Joker obviously has made many an appearance in my collection. 10: I did indeed answer them from memory (as you can see by the questions left blank

Okay - Anthony got the most correct questions right of the trivia portion of this quiz. There were 8 trivia type questions and he got all 8 of those correct. If you want to know which you got wrong or right - compare your answers to Anthony's.
However I weighted the 'essay' questions a bit more heavily (5 points) and in this category Les inched ahead. Plus Les got an extra bonus point for mentioning the name of the character Conrad Veidt played.
So Anthony ends up with 11 (8 +3) and Les ends up with 11 (5+1+5)
Leaving a speed round tiebreaker to win it. So out of Les and Anthony - whomever answers this correctly FIRST is the winner of this installment:
What is the source of this Joker quote (be as precise as possible):
"Well, it's garish, ugly, and derelicts have used it for a toilet. The rides are dilapidated to the point of being lethal, and could easily maim or kill innocent little children. Don't like it? I'm crazy for it."

Killing Joke. Page 7. The Joker is talking to the guy that owns the old fairgrounds he used to work at before he was the Joker. Before he kills him too.
That I actually recognized Scot. Got the page number from my Bolland autographed First Print. It's only one of my favorite comics.
