I don't own the kit but would love to hear from anybody that does. I have seen the box art which clearly has a comic book image of The Penguin. The kit however, from the built up kit I saw, looks very much like Burgess Meredith in my opinion. Does anybody else agree with me or am I just basing an opinion on a poor photograph I once saw?

I havent seen that kit in over 10 years, and at that time it was at a toy show fatory sealed with an $800 price sticker on it. I've never seen the actual kit or even pictures.

A scan is zipping over pal. I don't know how to post so if you would do the honours I would really appreciate it.

Recieved the scan Mart and your right! the likeness to Burges is there, but to know if it's intentional or coincidence we would need to know what year that model was released. As you know the Burges Merideth version of Penguin would not have been until at the earliest 1966 and my 2 original Aurora Batman models are dated 1965 on the bases and the MIB one has 1964 on the box even though the base of the kit says 65. Hey gang! The Penguin kit was released and first sold in 1967. Seems to point to it being meant to be Burgess Meredith despite clearly sporting comic book imagery on the box.

Carmine Infantino was responsible for the original box art for Aurora's Penguin kit. The Batman figural kit was released in 1965 well prior to the TV show airing so it was never going to be an Adam West lookalike, sadly, but it sold phenomenally well once the show began airing. For your information I can offer the following dates for the respective years of release for the various Batman related kits:
Batman 1965 Robin 1966 Penguin 1967 Batmobile 1966 Batcycle 1968 Batboat 1968 Batplane 1966
Of course only the vehicles are true Batman TV/Movie products. The Dynamic Duo are clearly inspired by their comic book counterparts and the Penguin is a hybrid of sorts I guess leaning more towards the TV show when built up. The plane is largely generic in my opinion although still very 'Bat-like'. All lovely items to own however!
(Thanks for helping with the pic!)

If you guys remember a few years back Polar Lights re-released a lot of the Aurora Bat Kits.I have the Batman,Robin,Bat Plane and BatBike re-issues waiting to be done amongst my pile of Models that have been pushed aside so i can customise. I know a site that still has this Penguin re-issued kit i just can't think of it at the moment.Keep posted and i'll find it and let you know.

Keep us up to speed on that one. Polar Lights did some great re-issues and even ended up using the Aurora name for some of them as I recall. Shame they never did the Batmobile. Maybe some licence thing with Barris/Greenway/20th Century Fox. Who knows.

When I first aquired the internet back in 95, Monsters in Motion was one of the first sites I had saved to my faves list, It;s been a year at least since I have visited there and it looks all revamped and changed around. I'll have to spend some time there again soon.
