I have wanted to put together a Burt Ward Robin for a while. However having heard that although seemingly an easy job compared to Batman it is in fact a far harder task I have learnt that this is 100% true!!! I am actually doing two at the moment. An 8 Inch classic kinda Mego sized one and this smaller Lion Rock/Teen Titans version using the head Russ now supplys. Anyway the figure here is only a rough but I used it to show the belt. A pretty simple way to create an decent enough buckle is to use gold sticky or adhesive backed paper or vinyl foil. Will very kindly sent me a small square of it and I punched out two circles using a standard home/office punch. The circles are around 5mm across. Cut a short length of black vinyl, I stripped an old folder found in any stationery store, that is around the same width. This works OK for both size figures. (Of course you can be super exact but for a Mego kinda deal this is fine.) Then cut one of the gold circles in half. Peel off the backing and stick the two halves in the middle of the belt circle side back to back if you know what I mean. Finally, on top and as central as you can, stick the other circle. Voila!! A belt buckle much like the one in the TV show. If you wanna add a little more 'body' you can stick two circles on top of eachother and go through the same process to make them thicker. For the cylindrical tubes I was lucky to find some gold beads at a craft store. They come in a variety of sizes and thse ones look pretty much 5mm in height. Some are a touch smaller or larger but you can sort through to find a decent matching set of six. This is my first attempt and I intend to find a closer sized group but it gives you all an idea. Of course moving onto a larger more TV accurate figure you may want to use real brass tubing or whatever but certainly for a Mego type of thing this works. Anyhow hope this is a little tip for any guys planning a TV Robin. I only wish I had tips for the laces!!!!! "Holy nightmare!" as the Boy Wonder once exclaimed!!!.
