So I'm talking to Tim on the phone today and lamenting the fact that my two brilliant hobby ideas didn't exist. One was the genius idea of making wetslide decals of eye irises that could slide off and go right on top of a white eyeball in multiple sizes. I was even going to try to prototype this one myself with inkjet decals. I mean think of the possibilities, right? I got the idea from seeing the micro eyeballs that Steven showed here. But decals would require much less work. So I was jazzed about my idea. And then I found these... www.milminwh.com/archer_eye.htmStill happy with the idea. Maybe I just forgot that I'd seen them before. Like George Harrison forgot he had heard "He's So Fine" before. ;D The 2nd idea I have not found anywhere yet (but then again I haven't looked far) It's flesh-toned spray primer for figures. If anyone knows of THAT being already made - please let us all know!

Very clever idea those Decals, shame someone got there before you Scot. I have never seen or heard of Flesh-coloured Primer myself, would certainly be a hell of a concept and save some serious time and hassles.

Flesh tone primer-I'll just call up Paris (skank) Hilton or Lindsy (snort) Lohan, and ask them where they get the primer that they use! I'll get back to ya! Timmeyer

Wow. I may have to try these. And yet, they'd be so tiny, I cna't see they'd be any less work. (And I'm pretty good painting eyeballs myself.)

Ah yes Cas - BUT as you get out of 4", 5", 6" and into Mego and 1:6 size and the guys that are striving for a different degree of "photorealism" (or modelrealism as the case may be) in the eyes - you can see where these would be pretty handy. Even your hand would have a tough time beating a decal of this - Upon looking closer at the art of those decals - I can't understand why they went ahead and made the product but used cartoon eyes instead of photorealistic images. If you're going to go to the trouble of having eyes made into decals - I can't imagine why you wouldn't use photographs. -S

Well that makes total sense. I'd buy photo-realistic eyes in a heartbeat.
See? There's still room for "Scooter's Eyeballs" in the marketplace!

I was going to get some until I saw the artwork. Now I am in the middle of producing my own using more photorealistic images of eyeballs in useful colors and intensities.
I have contacted a decal maker and am laying out the artwork.
There should be no problem laying something this small down on a curved surface. The curve of a 1:6 eyeball area is very slight and if you properly soak the decal stock - it should be fine. The key is to just produce the irises and not try to make the white of the eyeball part of the decal. It should go on just like a contact lens!
However - there are also a whole world of products such as 'micr-sol' etc. that help decals set in to surfaces beter and then make them look more like they were painted on.

Good luck with this Scot. Sounds ambitious.
You know me, I will continue to paint eyes. I know eyes are the bane of many a painter though. I accept that, and your solution may be a Godsend for many. I'd like to try some of your eyes just to see if I can when you get them done.
Good one Scot. Go for it!
