I’m going to review different figure bodies as I use them here are the first three.
Volks: www.volksusa.com/
NEO Slim male body
Very nice body for a slim figure or great to do a figure with multiple layers of clothing.
Some problems I was encountering with other bodies were the width of the shoulders was wider than I liked for figures with smaller frames. (Like Burt ward for example)
Pluses:
The figure came with three sets of hands and it breaks apart easy in multiple places, nice for difficult dressings or hard to get into outfits.
Very good articulation.
Drawbacks:
The joint are a tab bit loose for my liking in the shoulders, and doesn’t like to stand on its own but not impossible. This may be just the one I received.
Very thin neck. Would have to be bulked up for most male figures in my opinion
$30+ on the Volks website, much more if you get one off ebay...I’ve seen them get up to $50+.
Hero Builders
www.herobuilders.com/Customizers/index.htm
NEW V3 Male
This figure is good for ...let say a Frank Miller Batman or Sin City Marv, or other large gorilla type character. It has a HUGE upper body
Pluses:
Huge upper body, if you need one for a figure.
Articulated fingers
$10
Drawbacks:
Not very realistic, and some of the sculpt is strange. The biceps point inward and look odd, the whole upper arm looks weird.
The fingers are ugly and the articulation is held in place by a brass tube and (again) looks odd. Over the entire figure looks cheaply made...most likely because it is.
V2 female body:
Much better effort on the sculpt of the female body.
Pluses:
Nice shape over all.
Good articulation.
Articulated fingers.
$10
Drawbacks:
Some areas of the lower body, (the waist down) are a little off and there are strange muscles on the legs that I don’t think human women have.
Hands are bent down at the wrist (looks odd) and the fingers are unattractive, kind of knurled.
Over all, like the male body it looks cheaply done and put together.
