Well now that I’ve run into three figures that have glasses I became very weary of trying to glue wire together to make them. So I bought an etching system. It etches Brass copper and stainless steel. These glasses are my second attempt, I made an Adam West Bat belt buckle first and it came out very well. it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Looking good fella. So what's the stages of a piece of work like this. I am doing an 8 Inch movie Supes at the moment and may consider a Christopher Reeve Clark Kent companion figure. This could be a help and not just to me.

You have to draw you image out in a draw program and print it on a transparency, polish the brass, laminate the photo film stuff on to the brass and cover the prepared brass, etc, sheet with the transparency, expose it to a 100 watt bulb, develop it in sodium hydroxide, dip it in the etching fluid and wait how ever long for the thickness of the metal and the wash it of and there you have it. The only draw back in the 4x4 working area. It was a lot easier than I was expecting I bought the system from Micro-Mark. www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=83123 If anyone has a project they would like me to look at let me know.

Sounds great. Thanks for outlining it all. Good stuff and thanks for taking the time. Look forward to seeing a completed set on the nose of old Clark!

That's pretty awesome Steven, I often wondered how this technique was done.
Your glases look fabulous! to say the least. Could we have a peek at the West buckle that you tried?
Thanks for offering etching services to the group, I plan on making my own Vaccuform machiene so between the group, there won't be much that we cannot accomplish.
Nice stuff.

I'm in need of some Clark Kent glasses...now. I could use a pair whenever I could work it out with you. Very nice demonstration and info Steven. Thanks.
You're right Wil, there may be a factory evolving here... hmmm....let me think on that...
