On the topic of hair, sculpted vrs real. You can always use actual hair then soak with non-scented hairspray. Shape as you like with wires, strings and tape then blowdry. Once dried you can remove anything youve used to hold it in shape and it should basically keep it's shape. You can also gently fan it out to make it more fluffy in certain areas if desired.

I'm certainly taking on board all of the options with relation to hair!! I have a Batgirl TV style on the starting blocks so it is something I am considering all the time. As my chosen kinda style of figure is inspired by Mego, 'dolly' hair ain't too much of an issue although I want to maybe improve a little upon the 'Ronald McDonald' type of thing their old Batgirl figure had. I guess if I were moving up the ladder to an almost miniature Yvonne Craig figure that would not be appropriate and a more lifelike style would be what I was looking for. Lots to consider so thanks for the tips and stuff so far fellas.

That's what I am faced with too Marty. I agree that at some point - if you are going to have a resin head and resin hair - then why bother making it a clothed doll at all - just go with an all-resin statue. But I just have seen such horrendous rooted haor attempts I am frightened...
But like I said - I am going to attempt it on my 1:6 Yvonne Craig. As I think you pointed out - the red hair ont he show was a wig Barbara Gordon put on with the mask (which by the way makes more sense for secret identity purposes) so it probably looks a bit fake anyway. I'll try Will's hairspray method and hope for the best.

Incidentally I use that very hair spray technique on my batman & Robin capes, that way they are not flared like Mego capes, but rather have more of a wieghted hanging look. Just be sure to evenly coat the cape so you dont end up with dark spots in case it stains,(mine have not stained yet)
