There are so many questions of ethics involved in all of this! I would never have guessed. There is a certain irony involved at the root, since all of the characters being portrayed are owned by studios and copyright holders. I tend to view the custom world like artwork. Andy Warhol was certainly not indebted to Campbell's Soup for his prints and the pop culture icons that are produced by customizers is on a similar level. On the few custom figures I have made, I've tried to credit all who contributed. It is not from my talents that these things become reality but through the coordination of their talents into a vision of what I'd like to end up. The real artists/customizers, in my book, are the folks, like most of you here,who cast your own heads, sew your own uniforms, etc. Of course this seems to be one of those endless topics for discussion...
