Whoa...

I leave for a couple of days and come back to Massive Creative Explosion.

As usual, I'm crunched for time, but there's very little I can say that hasn't been said. All participants went above and beyond the call of duty, utilizing multiple entries, wacky Photoshop effects and some great photography. Needless to say, I am envious.

I am now going to use what little time I have to collect all the entries for inclusing in next months CustomCon. I assume everyone who was going to enter did so, yes?

You truly are a historian...a master of recreating and reintroducing that which has disappeared into the sinkhole of pop culture oblivion. The fact that you turned to a Twinkie advertisement for inspiration shows equal parts of humor, madness, and genius. Working in concert with Anthony's amazing packaging skills, you've turned something ridiculous into something magical. The work alone on the figures is astonishing, but the value-added nature of the pack-ins, packaging, and the presentation of the write-up is thoroughly mind-blowing. Incredible work as always.

Martin-

Hah! I hoped someone would tackle the serials...and I'm glad you chose the Wizard over the rather unpleasant Dr. Dakka. He's instantly recognizable...all the details of the character are there, recreated with your usual minute attention to detail and reverence for the source material. It's an inspired piece that makes me want to make my own Wizard. I can only hope that you'll make serial versions of Batman and Robin to foil his nefarious schemes.

Les-

I'm speechless. Mr. Freeze...and now this. These events are worthwhile just to see what you'll come up with next. Man oh man Les...that '39 Batman is an absolute wonder! The fact that you went all the way back to the very first comics for inspiration makes me giddy. Dr. Death and his cronies are fabulous...while not as visually grabbing designs as Batman himself, they nevertheless showcase your amazing abilities and attention to detail. Its as if the Columbia Pictures serials actually adapted the comics...only this looks a thousand times better than anything they could do. The strange shape of Bob Kane's cowl looks threatening and downright cool in your capable hands, and enhances the demonic nature of Batman's silhouette. And the presentation...my God...the presentation is worthy of a thousand words of praise alone. Just brilliant, my friend...you have exceeded your past best efforts yet again.

Troy-

The Royal Flush gang is an example of your finest, cleanest work to date. Excellent work all around on the elements that make a great, effective, and impressive Animated custom. The paints are pristine and clean, and the sculpted elements have clean lines and smooth textures. Great work as always...any chnace we'll ever see a group shot of your Animated customs displayed together?

Anthony-

Oh Anthony...between you and Kevin, every fringe character and ephemeral creation of the DC universe will eventually see an action figure. The customs you've submitted showcase your usual attention to detail and graphic perfection. Accompanying packaging for each figure is just the icing on the cake...my God man, you have so much talent. I need not mention the fact that your presence transcends this entry...after all, you have also provided that added authenticity to several other entries with your custom packaging for others.

Jason-

Wow, Jason...as always you meet and exceed what is required of a convincing and wholly official looking Mego custom. Both Gunhawk and KGBeast are sporting the usual masterful uniforms and costume details I've come to expect. I also love that you made KGBeast...he's a fun character, and has very rarely seen action figure form. Check out Doubledealer's version of the character...I bet you'll get a kick out of it: www.2dtoys.com/ Worth special mention is the work on the demon's head...man that likeness is dead-on, and the bright red paint so evenly applied...man, great work. Awesome as always, Jas.

Will-

This is a first...and I think it mat be a favorite of mine. The man himself...the young New Yorker who caught lightning in a bottle...what a fantastic concept, fantastically executed. I love the art work accessories and the likeness is great. This is a fine and fitting tribute to the man who created are favorite character...though to be fair, you should make a Bill Finger to accompany him

Whoa...awesome work on a character that I completely forgot about (which I suppose is the point of this little event). First off, this custom sports the usual things that I expect from your work...great paint, modifications, and perfect fodder choices. I'm also thrilled by the methof you used on the fabric...the glue trick is a brilliant idea that I must swipe from you. It sounds like a perfect solution to many of the problems I face with controlling fabric.

As a whole, everyone did a fantastic job on their entries. Again, this showcase is proof positive of the amazing talent that post here and contribute to this community.

Wow I didn't even bother to look in after the actual deadline day ran out. I thought putting in an effort late had been deemed "verbotten" I actually made stuff for this but ended up not getting home one night in time to photograph it in time. (cue Les - to scream "Lame!") I didn't even bother after the day ran out - cuz I thought that was our rule. Ah well.

Will - great choice on the BK. Love the canvasses.
