Among my work load of late has been this Guardian of Gotham series II resin kit. It was a build up for a customer and he allowed me to indulge myself in that dark gothic Batman style I like so much. Although, I did keep to a grey and black scheme as opposed to all black. I am kind of overdosed on all black these days. Weird belt too. But, I went all bronze and dirty with it. Kept the symbol fairly safe. Was too dark otherwise. Kept the colors in the busy base to a minimum to better showcase the figure. I don't like resin kits all that much but this one is a pretty cool looking kit. Glad I got to build it. (Kit came darn well cast and cleaned up too!)

Spectacular buildup Les, Although I don't care for the smug expression on his face the rest of the kit is excellently crafted. The tarnished Brass effect which runs down the shingles is a brilliant touch. That belt is different for sure, kinda looks like something from Predator. Your paint techniques really bring out all the details of the belt & base as well as the fig. Great job all around. ;D Will

Nice jon, Angremien! I agree about some of the details like the belt and such being odd, but your chose of color palette really pulled the piece together.

Good stuff Les! But hey, do we expect anything else from a fella like you? A very grim looking Dark Knight and your paint job makes him look all the more menacing. Nice work mate.

Thanks guys. I agree Will, his facial expression is over the top to me. I think the figure has enough attitude without it. But, it's not my kit so... But thanks.

I don't prefer these Bisley/Wrightson style Batmans at all. My style is more retro I guess, with some exceptions - but having seen this kit finished out by others before several times - let me say that this is the best paintjob I've ever seen on it. I love the browns of the roof setting the greys of Batman off. Very NICE job Les. -S

I get ya on the preferences thing Scot. I do appreciate your color comment. I love the use of Burnt Umber and used it as a base color for the base and mixed my grey for Batman's suit with it and some pure blue and white. Made the colors all work together. I prefer a visual palatte of three main colors. Only the face and the emblem and belt get into other colors so they sort of pop out. And I kept the provided model tag and belt in a similar ranges too. Now if this had been painted in the Zap, Bam, Pow style of the Pop art 60's, who knows how many colors would be in there! That might be fun...take a dark serious model like this and 60's it up! ;D

Thanks Cap. For what it's worth, I like your work too! And thanks about the car. I just don't do car models much. Way to exact a science for my cluttered mind!
And thanks FB.
BTW, The client that sent me this one has another one on the way. It's a Batman vs Predator and I dread painting all that detail! But, it's a good paying job so, what the heck. ;D
Five'll get you Ten it's another hyperstylized Batman...

If it's the Kit i'm thinking of Batman's wearing some Armour he fabricated to protect himself from Predator's weapons. The Armour's exactly the same as in the Comic and actually doesn't look too bad! Love to see pics of that one when it's done too,Predators are one of the most challenging characters to paint i reckon.

As much as I love looking at Predators, I hate painting them. Layers upon layers upon layers...They do be hard!
As for the kit, if it's from a comic, do you have any ideas which one and if so, what colors I should use for Batman? I am so black-burned-out that I want anything that will look good with the predator other than... Dark blue grey and grey maybe? I'd like to capture what it's from if I can.
Thanks for the tip FB.

Les,it was actually a storyline called"Batman VS Predator"i have a copy of it but my Scanners bit the Dust so i can't send you any scans. If i remember right though it was a Blue/Grey Batman actually so no Black HOORAY!!. I'll try to find where it is and figure out some way to get you some pics for reference.
EDIT:I dug it out and Batman is indeed Blue/Grey in this story with the Yellow Oval Bat Symbol.Even the Armour matches on to the same colours. Now if i can just figure out some way of getting you some pics Les.

I got the BvsP kit today. IT IS MASSIVE! It's gonna take forever to clean but I agree it should most definately be blue/grey. The Batman has no eyes. I can't recall ever seeing a Batman cowl, even armored, with no visible eyes. Is it a visor like a motorcycle helmet? Need refs for sure! No hurry though, I'll be cleaning it for a while and I am making the Predator first anyway. Let me know if you or anyone finds any refs for this. Thanks a bunch! Les
