Here's some in-progress pics of the two set of the massive 1/5? scale Batman vs Predator that I have been asking about, and am currently working on. (I did get the comics for reference! Thanks to all you guys that tried to help!) Just loose builds at the moment. LOTS more sanding and work to go. These are hellish cleanups!!!! Batman: Both: More to come... ;D

At 1/5 scale those things are HUGE!!! Can't wait to see what your painting skills will accomplish with such a big "canvas" for you to work with. Can't say Batman Vs. Presdator excites me personally but I know I will love seeing you bring these to life!

I guess I need to say, oops, I didn't sculpt these! I don't know who did, but I am lucky to be able to build them up for a guy! But thanks for thinking I did sculpt 'em Jason! ;D

Thanks guys. I am working on how I might paint that cowl of Batman's. He is an overall mostly grey and blue-grey costume color scheme with metallic (silver?!) armor parts. As you can see, his visor looks kind of like a motorcycle helmet with a reflective tinted outer surface. So, how do I paint that to have a quality that isn't just plain silver or grey? I want it to have some depth so as to suggest a two way material.
Now, remember, I don't have an airbrush, and I only use water based acrylics, so I was thinking of painting it dark and doing some light washes with metallic colors on top of that to lighten it up to par with the rest of the armor, then coating it with a good glosscoat. Maybe.
However, any ideas and feedback would be appreciated. I won't be painting it for a few days.

Hey Les, what is the height of the Predator there? I realize he is in a low stance, I just want an idea of the size of this set.
I can't say that I've seen a cowl like that before, kinda reminds me of a Transformer robot. Do you have a ref pic of this style of batman colored?
Pred looks pretty cool. Did he come with the dreds or do you have to scratch make them?
Keep us up on the progress, I'm sure it's gonna be a super display once done by you.

The Predator stands, even at his crouch at about 10 inches tall. He's huge! I'll get some scans up with the pertinent pics. I am not sticking absolutely to the comic, but It will be a guide at any rate.
Now that you mention it, that cowl is a bit Transformery... so bit it I guess...

Hey Les,why not paint the visor your base colour of choice then use Tamiya clear Acrylics like Smoke[which is a Grey] which would be a good top colour.I used it as a Visor colour for my GCPD SWAT figure and the effect worked really well to emphasize that 2-way look.

I remember this kit from way back, did you get the base as well? I seem to remember it had a base

Yeah, it has a sort of thin resin base. I am going to mount it all on a solid wood plaque type base with a realistic wasted battle ground scene though. I need it to be pretty solid. I think it must be an older kit as it ain't exactly on Ebay these days! In fact, this and one photo in a magazine are all I have seen of it myself. I wish I knew who sculpted it. Any ideas?
BTW, nice art at your portfolio site! Really nice stuff! ;D

Yeah it's definitely an older kit.I haven't seen one around for well over a year now.Your base idea should set it off beautifully Les,can't wait to see it.

A friend of mine built one of these up for a local comic shop. It had to be about 10 years or so ago. So you’re right, you don’t see it much.
and thanks for the complement on my art work!

Here's the Batman in almost finished mode. The armor parts are color toned to match up with the "actual" suit that shows on the upper arms and the cape. That's the way it comes off in the comic. He almost looks greyed out as he has no contrasts really. Here's a frontal view that only the Predator will have once it's all mounted up on the base. The Predator is a bit behind him on progress...but coming along!...(WHAT A CLEANUP! ...) Not too much more left to do... He free-stands now! All balanced up and nowhere to go... I shall have him done soon. Then, that base!
