Here's a lightweight project. I have been trying to sculpt a head without much success and so I am attempting this little project to improve my rather lacking skills. Some of you may know that in 1960 our beloved Batman creator Bob Kane produced this cartoon- Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse, as a lighthearted spoof of Batman and Robin. This is a work in progress and I thought it might be good idea to get some feedback, tips and much needed help from the talent on this site. I will be adding wire whiskers, a cloth cape, and paint ultimately. I've included a picture of the original source material below with my Sculpey rendition. I would greatly appreciate whatever advise or wisdom that can be offered!

That is looking great Kev, the only thing I can suggest is to make the outer edges of the ears a little more rounded, other then that, you are hitting the nail on the head. You should grab a Little rascal body for it and make an articulated figure of it.
Looking good bro.

That looks great and is indeed of a heritage to make him a worthy addition to the galleries here. Can't wait to see the outcome mate. Good stuff.

I'm not familiar with the characters, but I'm once again blown away by your skill and talent. That's a fantastic sculpt you've got going there!
If I had to offer anything constructive, it would be to agree with Will's assesment of the ears. Judging only by the source material shown, they look like they should be a bit wider and convex, rather than concave. But that's only based on those few images.
I'm sure this is going to be an amazing piece!

Can't wait to see this one finished. I've always loved CC but haven't seen him since I was a kid and used to watch WPIX (which our cable company no longer carries...sigh!).

Some updates on this. I resculpted a bit of CC. Too bad I hadn't found this picture before I started these or I'd have done the legs and feet quite differently: Any way, I've got Minute Mouse formed and CC has his first coat of paint- still looks pretty crude but it's getting there. Still have to add the yellow tones too, add the details etc. Plus the cape. Just thought I'd share another picture in-progress. Recommendations, hints, and help are welcome and desired!

Looking good Kev, Minute Mouse came together pretty fast. Isnt it funny how cartoons back then resembled oneanother so much? Like Minute Mouse bears a great resemblence to Micky & C-Cat resembles some Looney Tune characters. as well as Walt Diseney.
That said, you can probably make a Mighty Mouse from MM. ;D

Hoo boy. When I see these pictures, and see what they look like up close, I am really about ready to quit. I may be able to fix some of these problems, but I can't seem to get a clean line ANYWHERE on CC and his face looks like it's made of school paste. The whiskers weren't put in evenly, the ones on his left side are popping out of his cheek. The belt is way too fat. The legs are too straight and the feet are too flat. Minute Mouse's body looks rushed, that belt is a sloppy mess. The arms don't match and his right arm is too skinny and twisted. The legs don't blend into the feet. Looks like a grade school project. Both characters lack definition in their fingers and look like they are wearing mittens. I am definately going to start over on Minute Mouse's body. Maybe I should start everything over again.
