What's on Casimir's Bat-slab?

Gee, that title sounded vaguely dirty.

Normally, I don't post WIP photos (because hey, I might not finish, and that would just be embarassing), but then there's never been a great board like this one before. Also, given that my wedding is two months from today, I may or may not have time for this during the next few weeks.

First up is a "First Appearance" Talia. This is based on her very first comic book appearance. Many of you will remember I was searching for a Mary Jane figure. This is why. The dress is 98% a perfect match:



Next, it's Robin (Tim) unmasked, made in anticipation of the upcoming "Secret Identity" figures from DC Direct. (Also an inspired use for leftover parts.)



Now we have an ambitious experiment: My rendition of the classic Adams/Rogers/Aparo Bronze Age Batman. Unlike similar versions, the cape (can you see it? It's clear vinyl) is removable, and the head can be swapped for an unmasked Bruce Wayne head. That's the plan, anyway.



Here's Lady Shiva, based on her appearance in "Hush." I'm having trouble with this one. I'm mostly finished with the body, and it's reasonably accurate, but the head is driving me nuts. This is #3, and it's too tiny-tiny. #1 was just wrong, and #2 was huge. Of course, it doesn't help that her chest is gi-nourmas, throwing off the proportions. We'll see how this one ends up.



And now, another ambitious project: TNBA Clayface. I've been planning this one for a long time. His head will be a big challenge for me. I hope I'm up for it. This one may take awhile.



And now... Ra's al Ghul! I love this character! This is also based on his first appearance. Technically, he's finished, but he hasn't been posted to the site. And for the record, I've had this base figure sitting around for ages, with Ra's in mind. Figures somebody else beat me to the punch. (But my cape is better. And yes, it's removable, just like Batman's above.)



And finally, the very early stages of the wedding couple.



There are, of course, more. Oh so many more. Mostly animated, but not all. Some are waiting in the wings, some are waiting on the arrival of parts, some are only built in my brain. I need more hours in the day!

So much coolness!! Boy, you really work on a lot of different projects at once! Everything looks fantastic! Your 6" figures are every bit as slick as your animated figures.
I will be especially anxious to see the finished Clayface. My 8 year old son is a humongous Clayface fan and I want to show him when it's done- he will be so jealous of you when he sees your figure.
How cool is it to be making yourselves as a wedding cake topper in the animated style!!!
I spent a few hours the other day on your site and looked at every single figure you have posted. What a great collection, I am so impressed.
I'm still waiting to see Condiment Man though!!

Thank you, kind sir! Originally, I wanted to build Clayface in such a way that he could be molded and duplicated, but I dropped that in an effort to just get him started and have fun with the project.

Hey, Condiment Man could happen! If I have it my way, I'll keep making animated stuff until I run out of characters. That has to happen at some point, right? Right?

P.S. Yeah, I do tend to work on several at once. Everytime I start a batch I tell myself "Okay. No more than three this time. You do not want to pull your hair out again!" And then I end up with eight.

Cas, Thanks so much for taking us into your developement stages, all very cool stuff. I think the capes you do for Bat's and Ras are tre cool.

Thanks, guys. Will, I don't know if it's ambition, or just obession. Most times, I tend to work on figures that relate to one another. For example, working on Ra's meant a Talia had to follow. It just works out that way.

Thanks, FB. I just finished some wedding figures for some friends, and now I get to do more. I'd have gotten farther along with these but I'm waiting for some dress details to become clear. Gotta be accurate, ya know!

NICE 6" stuff. Way to kick rusty bovine butt.

So that's what the vinyl looks like pre-paint eh? Just plain old clear vinyl sheeting? Amazing. And what is the prep for painting that surface?

I may have a head suggestion for you for Lady Shiva. I have one I had put back a while ago in this scale. Let me snap a pic tomorrow and you take a look.

Ra's is amazing. I have that one in my to do box as well, but as usual - the plastic stuff has taken a backseat.

Scooter, there's not much prep to the vinyl, other than making sure it's clean. No special treatment. It takes primer and acrylic really well.

And any Lady Shiva help would be appreciated!

Hey, looky what I found. I didn't know I had posted this image, and just now stumbled across it. It's my Ra's figure pre-paint. Thought you folks might enjoy seeing it. You can see the "shelf" along the bottom of the sculpted cape portion where the vinyl is glued to the cured Kneadatite.

Oh, and that's the beginnings of Lady Shiva and Clayface behind him.
