If you sew Les, I got some material I used for my Blue Beetle, ... I don't know how much I have, but its the Strech kind, so mistakes are way cool. The color might be a smiged off.. but I think it looks nice. Just kinda laying around overhere, for my Chris Reeves, one day. Your more than welcomed to it. ;D

That's mighty generous of you dude. If it doesn't take away from your own project though...and only if...Have you got a decent pic of the shade? Here's a very "in progress" pic of the face paint so far. With the blue I need right there... (I can take a bit darker if need be, but this is with a flash...) Having lots of trouble getting his eyes to line up. It's the way it's made I am afraid. Plus, my eyeglass prescription must need changing a bit. I am having a heck of a time seeing his pupils these days. As always, any constrtuctive criticisms would be most welcome about now.

constrtuctive criticisms do you mind if I re attach my jaw first? Man! your painting skillz are just plain scary Les. I was expecting it to look great but that is truly unbeliveable, and with the mods you did to the sculpt, you undoubtedly have created the Ultimate Reeves head ever. Nice frikin job. Will

It is lighter than yours is, However I just threw in the movie real quick, & I think the shade of his suit is a little lighter. The pic with the Beetle, is accurate, as far as the color of the fabric, my camera helped me out this time.

Look! It's Chris Reeve back from the dead!! UNBELIEVBLE!!! You are so talented- that is the most incredible thing. His eyes look real- he looks real!! You aren't doing some kind of scary voo-doo-hocus-pocus to accomplish this are you?

You guys! No, really...when you all stop saying such kind stuff...there is always something that can be improved. Always. But thanks for all your kind words. And btw, any of you (all are talented!) guys can do this kind of detail. It just takes time and small brushes. It's just in the doing I guess. And, it's not magic Kevin. Heh... Just a LOT of severe eye strain! ...and those small brushes. It took all day to paint this one face. All day. I still think he looks a tad like he has makeup on. It is so hard to get subtle facial elements right. And Reeve has the most subtle detailed face I have ever had to try and work up. Man! Oh, and on the hairline thing Will, I add a bit of red or burnt sienna to the skin tone and wash it into the hairlines, carefully blending. I prefer less hard hairlines unless it's a graphic design element, like say in a cartoon version. If you blend the hairline in just barely, it makes it look a bit more "real". I do this to all my bought Sideshow figures or whatever. Soften that hairline. Maybe that is just a Les signaturey thing. But anyway, thanks guys.

Les, seriously - that is the best looking CR likeness I have ever seen including the Mike Hill wax museum 1:1 scale in England. I expected it to be good but it is simply without peer. The paintjob and the added sculpting have made all the difference in the world.
I'm not sure what input you're looking for. I would have advised against the Mego body but it looks like that is well unretractable now.
I think this could turn out as the best CR doll ever done. I'd like to talk to you more about it and your plans for it in email.

Thanks guys. Really. Coming from all of you this feedback is a bit heady. I see all of you as the very best, each. I see all of your comments as the ones that matter. You guys know your stuff and show it here and out in the world every day. I learn so much from each of you. Each of you. I apprecate all your kind words. I feel very honored to be in your company.
Back to business...
The use of the 12" Mego body was a preference of the buyer. He liked it's overall physicality under the suit and wanted to join the head to it showing the neck and losing the posability, but maintaining the look of power.
I agreed that I haven't seen a body that looked quite as large but still mantained his elegance. I have no Volks neo guy bodies but they look like a great figure bod for this project, if it's truly tall enough.
If you know of any better ones, let me know. I am considering scalloping out the neck on the head and making it fit a BBI/Volks type of head joint, thereby being fully posable. Only, the neck must have the musculature to accent the head properly.
Anyway, that's where I am with it for now...

Les,
Fantastic job on Chris Reeve! I am especially blown away by your work on the "eyes"! I've always admired your "eye work", but this one is uncanny! Great work!
