If this is your learning experience I can only imagine what you will produce when you feel you have mastered your skills! You are truly gifted- this is stunningly realistic!!

Thanks so much guys. I really mean that. Coming from you guys the feedback means a ton! Good news! My very first attempt at molding and casting came out almost perfectly! I will post my pics of my castup head and my "Rube Goldberg" casting lab. It looks like something Wile E. Coyote would cook up to cast a head with! ;D But it worked! So, Heads will roll! ... Heads will roll... um ...ok. Too over the top. Color me excited ok. It worked! That's all I know. And if an IDIOT like me can do it, sky's the limit guys!

So what method of molding and casting are you using, Les? (And hey, I liked the joke... ) C.

Wile E. Cyote Now I'm picturing Les standing on the edge of a cliff somewhere waiting to drop a boulder on another customiser's head. ;D Glad the process worked out good for you Les, sometimes it takes many tries to get it right. Will

Not quite a boulder...and certainly not on another fellow customizer... ...but it is almost that funny... ;D Here it is...my High Tech Mobile Molding and Casting Lab... (Thanks in no small part to the folks at Smooth-On for their sho nuff high tech materials...) It's mobile because I can pick it all up and carry it while it's doing it's thing...if need be... BTW, the real workhorse of the lab is the weighted metal claws that hold the suspending rod (chopstick), to which you attach desired head, over the fixed holding cup which in turn holds the inner removable cup of mold materials while setting up... And that's a sho nuff Big Butt wooden cigar box I am using there for a support (no I don't smoke but I do like wooden cigar boxes for storing stuff) And here are the heads...(white's the very first castup...) I did all this in the past two days, so it doesn't take too long. About 10 hours total curing for the mold and 30 minutes for the casting. Not too bad for a $25 +s/h sample kit. I got my silicone supersampler here: www.smooth-on.com/Getting%20Started.aspHope this all aids anyone who's thinking about it...

Just keeping you guys in the loop as for progress.. Here's the new head placement on the 12" Mego Superman body... Gonna set it without movement so I can work up his neck muscles and all. I hate losing the posability, but I'd rather have his neck look real than have that big seam right there.

Every step you take points to how perfect this is gonna turn out. I think you made a good choice about eliminating the seam. It will be less poseable, but on this guy in particular that neckline is an important visual key because of the fit of the suit and the cape. He looks so very "Supermany" now with a body. Thrilling work!

The physique looks great,i believe it will work perfectly for the Reeves look.As for sacrificing the Neck,i think it will make it a much more worthwhile look to put the detail in instead.

This figure is certainly heading in the right direction for being perhaps the definitive Christopher Reeve Superman action figure in my opinion. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying these progress reports. Fantastic stuff mate.

Thanks for the comments guys. I hope the direction I am going will work for and not against the figure in the long run.

Just a quick note. I am getting very close to showing this one completed, but I need some help.
I am after some more blue tights like the one I am using for this one (Actually using old Mego 12" Supes tights!) and Scot gave me a site, the hobbylink one, and darned if I can find any tights there. I saw the long list of Azone products, but if that's it, then they are out. Any ideas guys? I sho could use some new tights here...and they need to be the Reeve lighter blue color. Not quite so cobalt blue like Dr. Mego has. (hence using the old Mego toy...)
Anyway, thanks so far...
