Saw it last night! Liked it a LOT, but didn't love it. Not my idea of Batman, but a great movie nonetheless. Lacked a sense of any fun, except the Joker's crazy antics, but it is a GRIM movie, NOT FOR KIDS, and not if you want an upbeat mood after seeing it. HOWEVER, if it is only the second act, of a three act play, then it is GREAT! And we have a big finale coming, albeit without Ledger, but big anyway.
Some classic bits for sure! The Nurse, the pencil trick, the interrogation, SWAT, Skyhook, bending the barrel...there are some great bits in there. And great performances. Oldman is a wonder, as is Freeman. I actually prefer Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyylenhall, in this part, but otherwise, she is fine. All are super.
GO SEE IT! Just don't expect your daddy's Batman. He no longer exists I think. WE keep that alive. Here, mostly.
But go see. Just my 2 cents.
Les
PS: Love the BatPod!

the movie was great and has instantly jumped to the top of my favorite movies list, also the joker definitely stole the show, not what i was expecting but still great much better and more enjoyable than jack's joker, two-face was awesome much better than tommy lee jones' two-face, overall great film lots more than i expected in it and overall terrific film, its only sad we wont get to see heath evolve the character more and also seeing this film i can not see anyway for the next one to top it

Wow! A BATMAN themed site, and just two of us here enthusiastically talking of the new OSCAR WORTHY (or so it seems via most reviews) Batman movie!?!?!?
C'mon guys! Are we so locked into the West era here that we can't support our boy when he is out in force in theatres again? Drawing millions again it seems???
Let's hear those reviews! I know you guys have seen this by now! It is a Batman movie! Good or bad! Like it or not! Let's go! ;D

Hi, guys. I just watched it 2 days ago after returning from Vietnam. I personally feels that it's a great movie but there are some points I would like to comment too. The movie has too much focus on the politics(talking) of Gotham city but actually it's a slow leading to the showdown of '2 Face'! Joker is the main focus and not batman! He's so important that without him, there will be no excitement. He's just to good to be the 'BAD GUY'!!! Fight scenes too little comparing to 'Batman Begins'. 2 Face died too fast! Ending story with removal of 'Batman' in Gotham City so as to stop all new growing evil forces and I was wondering how to open a path to part 3 of the batman sequel???
Regards, Jon

I think you will find that two-face survived as the fall wasn't to far and also they are still aiming him to be the next main villain theres a theory going round that they staged the funeral so everyone remembers dent for what he stood for not what he came while they try to cure him and instead he breaks lose and is really annoyed
as for the batman eradication doesn't that play into the comics and toons where he is being hunted down by the police?

Well I finally got to see it on Saturday night, caught the 11 O-clock showing and there was still a pretty big limeup, but fortunately I was close to the front so we had a great seating choice.
This movie is awesome! I enjoyed all aspects of it. Its a shame Ledger cannot continue as the Joker as he really nailed it! and I would have loved to see him in future films in that role. The Batpod was way-cool, kinda looks clumsey for turning but still a cool vehicle. I will definitily be going to see it agin, next time at Colloses Thestre which is a huge imax theatre & I will be adding it to my dvd collection when it comes out.
Im glad they carried on with the theme of Batman Begins and didnt sell out to stupid stunts and rediculous characters trying to appeal more to Toy makers rather then Batman fans. They have a great thing going with this franchise and heres hoping they continue.

Not my favorite Batman movie (Ironman is in my top spot for this summer.) but it was good, just didn’t care for “make-up” Joker, (stick with the story people.) If they had taken more from the “Killing Joke” it would have been better. Also didn’t like the ending...Finally Gordon is commissioner and his first order of business is to destroy the Bat signal? Maybe we’ll have the Bat (cell?) Phone in the next movie. Hated Gyylenhall also, I found it hard to believe that many guys found her...ahem, “beautiful.” she looks like a sad turtle. Also missed the Bat Cave.... I did like the fact that they did do some old Batman comic stuff, like having him go to Hong Kong to get that guy. Always like it in the comics when Bats would show up in a foreign country to get the bad guy, it showed them there is no escape.

Loved it. Loved most things about it. Best Batman movie ever. Best Joker ever. I never liked or cared about the Joker until this movie. Liked Maggie a MILLION times better than Katie Holmes. But glad they killed off Rachel. Loved the way they removed "hero" status from Batman and turned him back into the vigilante at the end.
The 'didn't like' list was small:
- I like Oldman very much but the writing for his lines was awful. Like - George Lucas awful. - Hated the Bat Pod - Too much time on car chase/explosion/smashing stuff and not enough on high tech detectivey stuff. - At this point, why would ANYONE ever attend a party at Bruce Wayne's residence again? That plot vehicle's a little tired. - Bale's Batman voice. I get it, it's just a little much.

When she was singled out at the party as being this "Vision of lovliness" I leaned to my girlfriend and said, "Personally I liked the 2 hookers Bruce came in with better" ;D

oh yeaaa! I was thinking the same thing. And Scott hit on another thing I was thinking also, the Bat voice was getting to be too much for me by the end of the movie, He sounded like a 65 year old chain smoker.

They could have saved some money and just hired Clint Eastwood as Batman, he has the Jaw and the raspy voice.
