Let's simplify all mates! To see MY original Custom Batman, GO HERE: figuremasterles.tripod.com/id31.htmlRegarding the Mattox recast query, the Reeve head I used is not a recast. Nope. It hurt like the dickens to cut up too! No, I paid my $60 fee to Jim himself and then reworked that original. I can't recast. Don't have the means. And yes, it was not fun doing that to his fine work. I hope he can forgive me, but I wanted my Superman posable figure more. It's why I bought the head bust. I credit his original sculpt on my website though. ABSOLUTELY! I do not rip off anyone's work. Ever! Not that you were saying that Scooter. I just felt I needed to say it here. quote] Oh no - Les, I wasn't saying that at all - I was just asking if that was what the criticism was. because the photo looks so good I can't imagine what people's gripes would be. I can see that I worded that poorly. Sorry. My philosophy on recasting is this - if you buy something from me (likewise if I buy it from you) what gets done with it is completely the new owner's business. Except copying it of course. So If I buy a statue kit from whomever and cut it up to use the head for my own personal doll or sell it on to someone else - that's my right completely. As long as I don't then recast that head/part and start selling things made with it. And that's Jim's philosophy too. But he and a few other sculptors have been recently pointing out some blatant recasters that I was not aware of. No names here. I've had some problems with recasting on both ends of the spectrum. I bought directly from Terry Reynolds for years and then later started seeing his heads and models recast and sold everywhere. I was told by someone close to Terry - that he was getting part of those sales and that it was okay with him. I stopped buying any of that IDC stuff from him because it seemed silly to pay him $85+ for one of his castings if he had made arrangements for others to cast and sell them too cheaper. I actually stopped buying it all together until last year I picked up some heads from someone who is supposedly kicking Terry some jing for them. I only even did this because I can never get a hold of Terry. Well I hear from other people that those heads are completely recast and unauthorized. So I dumped them. Similar story with the Paggett head. So that's why I am having my own exclusive sculpts made as we speak! I've got 2 sculptors doing new sets of stuff for me and I'll devulge more as we go. But point is - yes, I've cut up whole statues to use the heads for dolls I've kept and dolls I've sold. Not economically feasible, but ethically - fine. and yes - I've inadvertently sold dolls with unauthorized recast heads. But never again. Live and learn. I also have had my exclusive kits (back a few years ago) completely recast and sold out from under my nose by another garage kit guy who was supposed to even be a friend at the same show I was at! So I understand as well as empathize. I recently bought a Chris Reeves bust from Jim too but I think I'm just leaving that one as a bust! I'm not desperate for a doll version of the character, the statue is fine. -S

Thanks Scot. No worries. I am now very curious about those heads you mentioned. I wonder what you have. Always looking for new heads of course. I just got a couple I've needed for years. Diver4 on Ebay has pretty good ones. I understand there is a vendor for some of Jim's heads out there. Diver 4 has a great Frank Gorshin head: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=348&item=5974306993&rd=1But, 5'll get you 10 it's a recast of something I am not aware of... Most are I believe. If I get any recast stuff, and I assume it is, it's for myself and a figure I want. I wouldn't sell it. However, if it's ok'd by the sculptor, whatever. Sky's the limit. I like your stance on it all however. My female figure I sold my "friend" is now making it's way to New Zealand or somewhere to be cast up. I sculpted it, but will get NO credit or commission for it. I'd have to buy my own work in the form of a casting now. It's made me very bitter about who I deal with regarding original sculpts. I trusted him. He let me down. That hurts. So, hard lesson learned. I move on.

Hi Guys, I am a newbie here, I am the Ebayer Henry Anakin. I am a Bat freak, I am known as Henry Wayne to the Batman fan group which I belongs. This 89' Batman Figure is something that I made for our group. I have only made 89 of them plus a few Artist Proofs to sell and trade with my fellow Bat Bros who are interested in Batman action figures. I have kept a few of them to sell on ebay and hope to make a little fortune though. ;D Talk to you all soon!! Henry

Hi Les, Thanks for the welcome my friend!! ;D I have a question guys, is it possible to post pics on this board? If so, how can I post pics? Henry Yes Henry posting pics is quite easy once you know how. In the "Tips & Tricks" section of the board there is a sticky thread at the top which is "How to post pics" and it even gives a link to some free web space folders to host your pictures. Here's a quick link for you. wildwilly.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=TIPS&action=display&thread=1113894575Will

Henry - welcome to the board. Please take the criticism of your work in the spirit in which it is meant - helpful criticism from fellow customizers. I would LOVE to own one of your figures and i think your craftsmanship is great. I'd love to discuss how you work in rubber. I am trying to do the same thing with some Adam West stuff and would appreciate some advice.
Guys - posting pics is super easy as long as you already have the photo up "on the web" somewhere. If you don't - and if you don't have any webspace, email them to me and I'll post them here for you. -s

Scootercustom, Thanks for the welcome!! ;D No worry about the criticism, good or bad comments are always welcome from fellow customizers. And glad to know that you like my 89 Figure. Actually, I only do the sculpting and sewing the undersuit and cape for my 89 Figure, the vinyl parts was done by a vinyl toy factory for me, so I don't have any experience in making rubber or vinyl parts too. Talk to you soon!! Henry
