When the Character Mr Freeze was chosen i started to think about what he represents. He is arguably the most tragic and tortured Batman Villain there is.So i thought what could i do to enhance this tragic character even further and the results are plain to see below.
It's a"what if?"scenario, what if Freeze's accident that forever altered his life went a lot futher than skin deep? What if he found that his accident actually rendered him Immortal?Forever lamenting his lost love, standing guard over the remains of the vessel that once held her body in stasis.Forever alive and yet dead inside and out.
So here's my contribution to our project:
UNDEAD MR FREEZE

I suppose you fellas knew I would go for a TV Mr Freeze so I hope I don't disappoint. Anyhow from the top we have a head from Dave Mac. I believe it was originally a standard ugly bald head villain kinda sculpt by Charlee Flatt but I tried to paint him as close to Otto Preminger as I was able. No chance of me trying to sculpt stuff I'm afraid so I hope the eyebrows look suitabley 'Otto-ish' (Is that even a word?) The jumpsuit is a standard Mego Action Jackson issue but as it is nearly exactly what he wore I saw no reason not to use it. Same for the boots too but they, like the gloves from Dr Mego, were sprayed silver. The belt was made from an old Action Jackson firefighter outfit which I cut into a strip. Easy! The equipment was a mish-mash of old Big Jim equipment painted and adapted and scratch built stuff. The back tanks were Big Jim scuba stuff repainted a more authentic colour and, after adding some plain and simple shirt buttons, a reasonable Freeze gun was fashioned using a BJ spear gun. The Freeze collar was was a curtain loop sprayed silver. The chest and shoulder harness was made from two picture hooks which I bent into shape. The chest control panel was made from wood and sprayed. Tiny pins and silver tape add the appropriate detail. A real canniball job I guess but a ton of fun. (Not as much fun as seeing Maxine's face when I made the Ice Hideout. Silver foil, sandwich wrap and salt everywhere. My, ...was she pleased!!) There you go, my take on Otto Preminger the second of the three TV actors to play Mr Freeze.

"W..I..I..I..I..L..L..D..D!!!"

Well this is bizarre... The reply button is working again... Okay, so anyway....

Casimir's Mr. Freeze!

Originally, I was going to go with a "civilian" Freeze as seen in "Sub-Zero" (thanks FB!), but time wouldn't allow for the necessary sculpting. Instead I chose Freeze as he appeared in the animated style comics. To my knowledge, he wore two, maybe three suits that were original to the comic and didn't appear on the animated program. I always enjoy when the comic writers can sneak in things like that, expanding the universe a little.

The base is the TNBA Mr. Freeze. (Spider Freeze.) I removed some details, and sculpted new ones. The lines along the lower arms were added, matching as best I could the exisiting etched lines along the upper arms. I got lazy with the legs and just painted the lines.

The design is meant to be something of an amalgam of the BTAS and TNBA designs. In the issue this suit appears, the colors appear to be green and grey in the interior art, but black and blue on the cover. I compromised. When I was done, I relalized his colors look a bit like a Super-Powers era Freeze. Wacky!

I'm posting this entry for Scott Rogers, who is away on business.

Scott Rogers' Mr. Freeze!

"It's a combination of my two favorite Mister Freeze's - Mike Mignola's BTAS design in the costume of Otto Preminger's freeze costume from the 1966 series. The best part of this - no bubble helmet!"

I feel like saying STAND BACK! ;D
I hope this isn't too much or too long. Forgive fellas if it runs long...it was a BIG project for me, so it may be a tad much, I just hope you enjoy looking at it.

OK...here goes...

Just to cover a few upfront points about it in advance…
I did not intentionally base this figure on any one particular version of Mr. Freeze, but he may very much resemble the Animated series version, due I’m sure to that being my favorite. I had originally set out to make a silver suited fellow with a more round bubble helmet (and NOT the Arnold movie Mr. Freeze as so many of you have asked about…) Anyway, my direction changed shortly after the initial parts and scraps review where I realized I had this neat black leather suit that I then simply used as a working base suit, to start out with, and it just stuck, that after I fully made the gun as you see it.
The gun has not changed since it was first finished. The black influenced my colors which are only black, silver, dark metallic that is black/silver/gold mix, blue-gray and some gold for accents. His eyes have some red. Overall, I wanted a black and white art deco look to him as much as possible.

I was going to sculpt an original head, but when I ran across this one in my heads drawer, he looked appropriate being as he had strong features, a great expression already and was bald, so I went with him as he was.
In fact, except for a few sculpted areas on the boots, there are otherwise no sculpted or re-sculpted parts at all anywhere on the figure.
And that is for sure not what I started out to do.

So, all that being said, here is the figure I ended up with. Enjoy!

BEGIN TRANSMISSION….

After a tiring search for a dome for this figure, I found a nice glass one online at a craft supply shop. I decided not to paint it, so I just chilled it for real for a few pictures.

And here is a breakdown of the gun itself, which , like I said, I actually made first.
I thought if I could create an interesting enough gun, then the guy would sort of grow out of and support it, instead of the other way around. Here’s how it supposedly works…in my imagination at any rate…

In this shot and some others you can really see the eyes that I painted with many layers of gloss clearcoat over a silver-blue to get a car reflector effect in his irises.

And at this point I think it would be a good time to get the heck out of here as he’s all geared up and ready for action again!

OH NO! HE’S SEEN YOU! I think it would be b…..

Here's my Victor!!

The head is ML Bullseye. The torso, legs, and shoulders are ML Magneto. The arms are from ML 8 Modern Iron Man. The large back pack is a drum from McToys Kiss figure. The Ice Blaster is cobbled together from a few odds and ends. The Dome is a krazy glue container, which maintains the "screw-off" mechanism. I sawed off the end and glued the small cap insert to the top to close off the dome. The tubing is clear blue craft string.

The boots...are an element of whimsy I suppose. I liked the look of the big clunky metal boots on him...it half amused me and half scared the crap out of me ;D

My Freeze entry is a rendition of Eli Wallach, who is probably best known for his role in The Good The Bad & The Ugly......uh he was the Ugly one. :-/

Eli was the third & final actor to play Mr. Freeze on the 66 Batman TV show.
When Eli had heard that Arnold Swartzenegger was getting $20 million for his role as Mr. Freez, he complained to his Wife that he only got $350 for playing Freeze. His Wife suggested that maybe he should go lift some wieghts. ;D
Anyway hears Eli, aka Mr. Freeze.

The head started off as a grandpa Munster head (thanks kevin ;) ), and after much modifying, there isn't much of ol Gramps left.
The suit was an AJ suit donated from Marty-man!, Thanks chum.
Useing ribbon, I made the wrist gauntlets and painted the hands to match. Thanks to Jason for the ribbon idea.

Besides the AJ Boots, the rest of the apparell including the freeze gun was made of of various junk found around the house. ;D

Wow what a presentation kevin, I love this gathering of all the great Freeze entries. That would be great on a T-shirt. 8-)

Hey Cas, if you havent created a collage as of yet, this one of Kevin's sums it up quite nicely.
PS. you can also let people know that if they wish to comment they may do so on the "Guest" section of our site.
