WOW!
I wanna see this short film soon!

Scoop! WHat's the scoop on that so we can see it!
This is terrific!

Wow! That is the coolest thing- can I live there? You can lock me up in one of the guest rooms and I'll be happy just to see the Batmobile's comings and goings!
This shows us what an amazing film this is going to be. I am a huge fan of the '89 movie (I still like it better than Batman Begins) and I can't wait to see that world revisited once more! Thanks for the sneak peek- can't wait to see more!!

Nice job fella. This is so different to what we usually see here but very, very welcome. There is so much more to the World of Batman and despite this place being primarily action figure based anything like this and of this incredible level will always bring comment. I think you have done an amazing job. Did you work from photographs of the building or was it just 'freeze frame' the movie kinda thing? Can you give us a talk through on how you put this masterpiece together and the techniques involved maybe? Being in England I am fortunate to have been able to visit 'Wayne Manor' Knebworth House, which was used as the exterior location, and you have pretty much captured the look exactly as I remember it. I know most of you may know about my interest in goofy old 1960/70s TV spy/action shows and therefore I am particularly pleased to see this miniature as it also represents Lord Brett Sinclair's family home in the ITC series THE PERSUADERS! which starred Tony Curtis and Roger Moore as Sinclair. Love it mate. A great piece of work. (By the way the interior of Wayne Manor was actually, in part, another prestigious local stately home, Hatfield House)

Roman, that is spectacular! to say the very least.
Your absence is well excused for having undergone such a major custom project.
Any sneek peeks on the Bat suit for this flic? or will it be the Keaton version?

Awesome work Bro.

I am a total Geek for Dioramas and miniatures etc and this one just blows me away! What an incredible piece of work, the detail around the Battlements and towers is exquisitely done.I could stare at this for hours.
Any chance you have some w.i.p piccies or a bit of a tutorial on how you put this bad boy together?

WOW, thanks for the nice comments! ;D
I didn't think I would even impress someone who saw Knebworth House in person :o

WIP photos and detailed info will follow very soon 8-)

But first I have to upload all the necessary photos :P

Next thing on my to do list for the fanfilm is a bigger version of the main tower with the circular window and the top of the cathedral... then I can finally return to custom figures ;D

Photos of the fanfilm will be posted as soon as I get some...

Man oh man, what an exceptional job you've done here.

This really does look like the miniatures from the first film...the quality on this is extraordinary. The last picture with the neutral sky background looks like a full-scale image.

Hurry up with those WIP images...I cannot wait to see the process that went into the creation of this impressive masterpiece. Whaddya gonna do with it now? ;)

Whoa! I don't know what I was expecting, but not such a finely detailed model. Wowzers!

I really enjoy the juxtaposition of the different architctural elements, like the somewhat Middle-Eastern looking blue domes versions the European looking turrents. Cool!

Okay, where to start now?
I'll start where I, eh, started from:

1. I watched the movie only to realize that there are too few shots of Knebworth House to rebuilt it that detailed. But luckily I found a load of pictures on the official website of Knebworth House and in the few magazines I have about B89.

2. I drew plans and made sketches by looking at the photos. I made some measurements and calculations to find out which scale would fit the largest box I found. I have to send it to England someway :P

3. Now the main part: Almost the entire thing was made from cardboard!

4. Then the base coat: light sandstone, in most areas:

5. The aging and wheathering process:

Here you can see a wheathered part next to two unwheatherd parts.
The wheathering was a load of grey washes and dark grey, green, brown and white drybrushing. I used sandstone as base for every color I mixed. That gave it a more realistic feel ;)
Here the final result:

6. Now I had to add the windows and the ivy: The windows were drawn in paint printed out and copied to transparent foil which I cut out again and glued behind the windows. The ivy and the bushes are made from very small pieces of green paper. I added glue to the areas where the ivy had to be and then I "flocked" the ivy on the walls.

7. And last but not least I put some grass on the base and some sand and glued the building down to the base:

And voila the finished product ;D
Just took me a few months :P

You make it sound so easy!! And I'm sure it wasn't. A great lay out fella. Thanks for taking the time to do it. One question that has been puzzled. If the guys making this movie are in England why not just go to Knebworth and ask to film some footage? Would have saved you one heck of a job. Howeve,r then we would not have had the pleasure of seeing such a great piece of top class work. Thanks again and do keep us up to speed on the whole project.

Okay I THINK I understand some of this now - the cylindrical towers are made from - what? Kid's telescopes? Candy containers? Can't tell exactly.

But how did you make the turrets, the main tower, the relief crest sculpture...

You can't just say "Cardboard!" and be done with it. We're much thirstier than that here!

Amazing work.

This is the greatest diorama I think I've ever seen! It looks very realistic when compared to the real thing. I like the step by step pics too.
